Municipal Election 2026
Rooted in
Douro-Dummer.
Practical Leadership. Stronger Community.
I’m running for Deputy Mayor because I believe Douro-Dummer deserves leadership that listens, asks the tough questions and isn’t afraid to set better expectations.
I want to protect what makes our Township special while making sure we are planning responsibly for the people who will call it home for generations to come.

Our Path Forward
Priority Pillars (01—04)
Respect the Taxpayer
Responsible Spending. Transparent Decisions.
Residents deserve to know where their tax dollars are going and what they're getting in return.
Douro-Dummer needs strong long-term financial planning that allows us to maintain our roads, facilities and essential services while preparing for future needs without simply turning to the taxpayer every time costs increase.
I will push for:
- Clearer, more transparent budgets so residents can easily understand where money is being spent and why.
- Long-term capital planning that anticipates major expenses instead of reacting to them.
- A serious review of efficiencies and spending to identify where we can save, collaborate or operate differently before asking taxpayers for more.
Every tax dollar should have a purpose and residents should be able to see the value.
A Township That Listens — and Responds
Better Communication. Better Accountability.
Residents should feel comfortable contacting their Township and confident that their concerns will be treated professionally and fairly.
Whether someone has lived here for five generations or five months, their voice matters.
I will push for:
- Better communication between residents, Council and Township staff, including clearer follow-up when concerns are raised.
- A culture of professionalism and problem-solving where residents are treated as people looking for help, not problems to manage.
- Greater community engagement that brings young families, seniors, farmers, business owners, seasonal residents and volunteers into Township conversations.
You shouldn't have to fight your Township to be heard by your Township.
Fix the Building & Planning Experience
Clear Answers. Consistent Expectations. Reasonable Timelines.
Building a home, expanding a business, renovating a cottage or repairing a deck shouldn't require becoming an expert in municipal bureaucracy.
Residents and businesses deserve to know what is required from the beginning, who they need to speak with and what a reasonable timeline looks like.
I will push for:
- Clearer processes and requirements upfront, including better public information and guidance. Their system needs an overhaul.
- Reasonable service standards and measurable timelines so applicants know what to expect.
- Greater accountability and consistency in how policies and requirements are communicated and applied.
Council doesn't issue building permits, but Council absolutely has a responsibility to ensure the systems serving our residents are working.
Our Township should help people navigate the process not become another obstacle in it.
Protect Our Rural Roots. Plan for the Next Generation.
Water, Land and Legacy.
Our rural roots aren’t limited to our farms and fields. They’re also found in our forests, wetlands, rivers and lakes, and in the waterfront communities that have been part of Douro-Dummer for generations.
Protecting our rural character means protecting all of it.
I want to see Douro-Dummer take a practical, collaborative approach to protecting water quality and the long-term health of our lakes, while recognizing the important role our waterfront residents, farmers and landowners already play as stewards of the land. Protecting that doesn't mean resisting every change. It means making thoughtful decisions about what growth should look like.
I will push for:
- Natural and restored shorelines, responsible septic management, healthy wetlands and forests, and invasive-species prevention.
- Water-quality monitoring and environmental programs that make it easier for property owners to do the right thing.
- Township leadership through education, partnerships, incentives and access to programs rather than defaulting to another layer of regulation.
Our lakes, farmland and rural landscape aren’t just part of Douro-Dummer’s history. They’re among our greatest economic and community assets and we have a responsibility to leave them healthy for the next generation. I want families who have been here for generations to have the opportunity to keep their farms, cottages and properties in the family. I want my own children and those of others who grew up here to have a realistic opportunity to stay.
I don't believe good municipal government needs to be complicated.
- Respect people's money.
- Respect people's time.
- Listen when they speak.
- Protect the community they love.
That means asking questions, challenging the status quo when something isn't working and being willing to find practical solutions.
Douro-Dummer doesn't need to become something different.
It needs leadership willing to protect what works, fix what doesn't and plan confidently for what comes next.
